Anu Åberg (born in 1967) started her studies of piano playing at the Music Academy of Keskinen Uusimaa (Central Uusimaa) at the age of 9, and continued at the Sibelius Academy Kuopio department, graduating as Master of Music in 1994. Among her teachers in choir conducting were Jorma Hannikainen and Heikki Liimola and Timo Nuoranne.
Mrs Åberg is employed as cantor in the Cathedral Parish of Turku and part-time teacher of organ at Puolalanmäki senior high school of music. In addition to her main occupation, she has devoted herself more and more to choral singing with the Turku Cathedral Youth Choir as her instrument. They have performed not only in several Nordic countries but also in Russia, Latvia, Italy and Vietnam. A new development is a hand chime ensemble Hups! that has emerged as a pendant to the choir. Hups! plays hand chimes of bronze in the English tradition. Mrs Åberg is their conductor.
